Should the World CUp Champs Have to Qualify?

What i forgot to add was by winning it they deserve some sort of prize other than money for there FA, e.g. automatic qualification for the next tournament. i just feel it ruins the tournament if the holders dont get to defend there title in the final round.

i agree they should be in to defend title, however if they have to qualify the would probs get in anyway because you need to be a good side to win the world cup

True enough, but looks what happened to Italy in '82/'84, Denamrk in '92/'94 and Greece in '04/06. They all were WC or Euro champs but failed to qualify for the next big tournament. True it was not defending the titles they held, but the WC and EURO are the big titles and they were missing.
