I'm really thinking that its going to be the Argentines, Brazil, or Portugal. Argentina has Messi who whether you like him or not, he often alone dictates the pace of the match. He's got that super close control and he's fast and agile. Then, there's Tevez. Watch a few Man United games and you'll know all you need to know. He can finish very well and he's a very strong player. Then again, Brazil has Anderson who is fast as hell, physically strong, and has definitely got a bag of tricks. Then of course there's Ronaldinho....no words can even describe him when he's in form. Also, Robinho has been playing exceptionally well. He's got pace, close control, and finishing skills. But then there's Portugal. Nani is proving himself to be a strong presence in the midfield, Ronaldo seems to be unstoppable with that rocket foot and those super headers. The portuguese finished 4th in the 06 cup and they want the coming Cup really badly. Wow this answer is long. Lol

you have to keep in mind that most soccer players have a relatively small peak and many of the star players now will be eclipsed by younger players in another two years. i think you have to look at the youth levels, and the olympics will be a great indicator. brazil is never a bad choice and italy still looks strong, and finished will in their qualifier tournament.
