Brazil is the only remaining official candidate after Colombia withdrew its bid April 11, 2007. The reason Colombia was considering to host the 2014 World Cup is because they were going to host in 1986 but political issues forced FIFA to have the World Cup matches to be moved and played in Mexico.

brazil recently beat out colombia in the bid and is currently the only bidder for world cup 2014. so unless another countries can outbid them, it will probably be in brazil

Right now, Brazil are the favorites to host the 2014 World Cup, but FIFA President Sepp Blatter has expressed skepticism as to whether Brazil will have enough stadiums that meet FIFA's criteria by then. "I can't guarantee that Brazil will be the host," Blatter told the official government news service Agencia Brasil on Thursday. "But the ball is on Brazil's court now."

He has also said that if Brazil is not ready, then South America could be skipped in FIFA's continental rotation that was put in place, with the USA, China, and Australia among possible emergency replacements.
