2010 RSA world cup?

All along Ive not been so sure, I mean dont get me wrong ive been there 3 times and im only 21. Its a beautiful country to go on holiday to but the politics of the place scare me only because the concept of a lot of the people in the world coming to South Africa thats got high crime rate and a prejudicial government (which are well known bad points about the place)

I know its Sepp Blatter just being politically correct and trying to score some brownie points by giving the world cup to South Africa in 2010 but isnt it his dumbest idea?

I mean its a nice country to visit but to have millions of people descend upon its land thats rife with car jackings and muggings and stabbings and gun crime and everything else under the sun as well as having a government that favours blacks who get first choice on jobs etc

isnt this just a disaster waiting to happen?
im not meaning to sound like a tart but im just stating the obvious worries, or can anyone convince me it will be great?

its a politically incorrect decision to have the world cup finals there...south africa havent exacty set the world alight with their performances have they...let alone the crime rate...i think the finals should always be held in europe personally, best stadiums, easily accessible to the rest of the world...then again, i have no problem with brazil holding it in 2014...why cant the winner of the world cup automatically host the next one, thats wot i would do anyway

well...can we not say the same about London 2012....Are you not concerned about the stabbings, shootings and terrorist threats in London? I am so its not just Africa...!And what about the UK Govt and their crap...does that concern you in relation to 2012...yet you are concerned about the SA govt? I don't get it..before removing the splinter in your neighbours eye take the rain forest out of your own.....

the SA Govt favouring the African pple I don't agree with...they are trying to give the African people a chance to fast track...to make up for yrs of being passed up bcoz of their colour...although I don't believe its the way forward... its their country after all...they have suffered a lot of injustice..the thing that impresses me about this country is their ...forgiveness the locals have shown to their former oppressers...

I agree with you. RSA is a dangerous place to stay as there are a lot of crimes there. And you have to add the hooligans, they can become angry because they do not agree team x has won or loss. They should really put a lot of security around the players, stadium, hotels etc... if they don't want disasters to happen.

racism is not a part of football. south africa deserves this wc and they WILL host the cup. they're in the progress of making and renevating new stadiums.

The country needs to make this work, but it won't as their seedy underbelly will ruin it for the good citizens of South Africa. The World Cup will be taken from the RSA and given to the USA.
