12 Oct 2006
PAOK FC have appointed Momcilo Vukotiζ as their new coach after the resignation of Ilie Dumitrescu earlier this month.
The 56-year-old Serb previously worked in Greece between 1989 and 1992, when he was in charge of Panionios NFC. He began his coaching career with FK Partizan in 1988 and also spent seven years in Cypriot football. From 1999-2004 he was part of Serbia and Montenegro's national-team set-up before becoming head coach of Cyprus. His last job was with Romanian side FC Farul Constanta.
Vukotiζ, a former international striker who played for Partizan and FC Girondins de Bordeaux, will hope to help PAOK challenge for a European spot this season. The Thessalonika club are seventh in the Greek top flight with eight points from six games. Dumitrescu said he had taken them as far as he could: "I am stepping down because I feel I cannot help PAOK any longer. I can't do anything more." |
