he'll have a huge impact? I ask this knowing that the MLS as a TRUELY top-tier sport is still a few years away, but Becks' amazing skilll, celebrity and style might just be the thing to really grab the nation's attention...

Beckham is terrible, so is the MLS. No one cares about them. If you want to see real football watch the premier league or serie A or La Liga.

Newb.................... Beckham tuh

You are not the only one. But in the minority. I hope for professional soccer's sake, this pays off. I see ESPN is pimping the guy coming to America. America is sport crazy. Maybe there is room for soccer.

Nope, he is only one player on a team. Wayne Gretzky was a dominating hockey player (much more so than Beckham is in soccer) and without a good supporting cast he won no Stanley cups after he left Edmonton. Beckham will draw more people to the games but his impact will not be that great on the field.

Even though soccer was the very first sport I played, I still think soccer has long shot to compete with the other sports. I don't think is a matter of interest but a matter of influence. Maybe some people care and some people don't. Literally, the only thing I'm waiting for is football. As long as my Bears compete, I could care less(and the Cubs suck by the way).

But will it have a huge impact??? I really don't think so. Unless you're talking about Beckham's wife!!!!!!

I am excited cause now I can see a good and famous player in a stadium instead of a tv. As far as him having an impact he has to win or at least play well to get more people to watch and to build awarness of the sport. I dont think he'll do anything for the MLS if he plays terrrible or doesnt score many goals cause thats all people want to see which is to see him score and play well. He has proved to be good outside of the pitch now he has to prove that hes good in the field and have the Galaxy win some games. He'll get noticed if he can turn the Galaxy around and take them to the playoffs.

We'll see I guess. If he can make an impact that's great. I see it more as a start. It realistically will take more than one good player - you know?

Not only do we need more players from Europe we need more coaches from there as well.

Sorry but I've played soccer here in America my whole life and most coaches don't known much about the sport at all.

Really we should focus on the coaching here in the U.S. That's the real problem. We should focus on having coaching clinics with European coaches so the knowledge can trickle down and fan out.

Becks is amazing and this is good for the MLS. Too bad he has been hurt for so long. Hopefully he comes back strong. He is a very good player, great first touch, great vision and of course set pieces are very strong. He may not have the moves of Ronaldinho but he is much stronger than his critics make him out to be.
