Explain what happened to the missing mLs?

When 50 mL of rubbing alcohol is poured into 50 mL of water, it is around 97 mL, not 100 mL( 50 mL water + 50 mL rubbing alcohol= 100 mL) . What is happening?

the missing mL's are left on the sides of the tube or flask that the 50 mL of rubbing alcohol was in... That's what happened... Also... some of the rubbing alcohol is evaporating... in fact... the 3 mL will not be on the sides of the flask or tube that the alcohol was in, because rubbing alcohol evaporates very easily...
