YAY! Becks is coming. I love him so much. I think that $250 million for 5 years is a lot, but he is in high demand, and lets face it, today, people like him are in hugh "usage". Also, media has a part in this whole deal (not that I'm critical of it..). Pele changed the MLS forever, but I'm not sure too many people can do that. Time will only show us; looking forward to watching the events unfold =-)

It depends on if the media makes him seem bigger than he really is. It will be a different game for Beckham cause of the playing style MLS has and Spains league has. MLS is more faster and Spain they take their time and consentrate on what they are doing. Beck might be the one to change the tempo of the MLS but might not be forever, yes maybe MAYBE, while he is with MLS but not forever

Add the fact that you are asking him to downgrade and play for a crap league in America... He is worth every penny of that money if you want him to play in your league...































He wont change the MLS, because he is only ONE player... You used to have the likes of Pele and Best over in the US and they didn't build the league now did they?































You need to bring over true World Class YOUNG talent, not players at the end of their careers.

Yes, because he attracts the "celebrity set" to soccer. I was at Dodger stadium last week and Mrs. Beckham threw out the first pitch. I saw that Tom Cruise was at the last Real Madrid game this season. Beckham and Hollywood will get along famously. This was a brilliant move and well worth the money. He puts MLS on a map or rather a calendar."Darling, are we going to that party in Brentwood tomorrow or the LA Galaxy game in Carson? "

he's worth whatever someone is willing to pay him, that's capitolism at work. personally i don't watch soccer, and some european hot shot coming here to play is not going to make me start watching. will he change soccer in america? will soccer suddenly become popular here? not a chance. as someone else pointed out, it didn't happen when pele came here and it won't happen now. soccer may one day surpass hockey in popularity here, that won't take much doing. one game of the stanley cup finals this year had the lowest prime time rating of any TV show in history. but please don't try to fool yourself here, soccer will never, i repeat never, come close to the popularity of football, NASCAR, baseball or basketball in the US. it will never be anything more than a nitch sport here.

He is worth 250 millions. He is a star in Europe and specially in Asia and Los Angeles will go to play to Asia and they will sell thousands of t-shirts.















Probably more tv will go to the games. The problem of Pele is that he went to the USA at the end of his career and in the 70 soccer didn't have the marketing it has nowadays.
