this may well not be the point.

but...

if certain people would stop constantly x-posting this situation would not
have arisen.

That's true, but if UseNet didn't exist, it wouldn't have happened either.

No dope man it is a very good point,in this issue.
imo.
Some of us have been wishing it away for some time.
Silent posts "in respect of" are almost as pathetic as those flowers
you see tied to lampposts.
Pathetic in a pathos evoking manner.
"Oh,look something bad has happened there............"
And you're gone onto the next set of traffic lights and another bunch
of anonymous carnations.
Since Diana the Princess died public outpouring of perceived grief has
become the PC thing to do and it's largely bullshit imo.
I don't really care that Davis died,it isn't something I'm involved
with and I'd just like to take the opportunity to say so.
X-posting by Man U fans to other clubs NG's should for the best
reasons imo not happen.

I don't think a NG is the place for a silence gesture.

Yes it was a tragic loss of life, and yes it should be mourned, but I think
the reaction to Mr Pope has been overboard, unnecessary and largely
reactionist.

I think it is all rather a hypocritical point considering who this hubbub is
all about, a rather infamous lover of the x-post himself...

Why is it hypocritical? I was just stating that if the person shouldn't of
x-posted the message here, he should of kept in the Man U ng. That is my
own feeling on it.

You're not being hypocritical, the idea itself that "perhaps some of the
blame lies in the fact that this was cross-posted" IS hypocritical because
we're talking about Pope here. Someone who regularly cross posts to many
other newsgroups, especially the ManYoo group.

All of this extra crap about should crossposts happen or not (I don't like
them either) has nothing to do with what happened. Pope didn't do this
because he was upset with the fact that someone had crossposted to our ng.
