Hi

Can any of you techies tell me what this means

I get a pop up box with this inside it

'NTAUTHOURITY\SYSTEM

Romote Procedure Call (RPC) Service terminated unexpectedly

Please save anything documents your working on'

It then counts me down 40 seconds and then shuts down my p.c and restarts it

It only does this when connected to your ISP, correct?
Are you running a firewall and/or anti-virus protection?

p.s. I meant to include, on that web page go straight to the 'Resolutions'
section and download the appropraite fix program for your PC (Windows 2000,
XP or NT)

Nice one. I hope you are OK now too (I had to do similar recently to the
servers where I work and this has sorted it and a mate had it at home this
evening - he is OK now).

Definitely sounds like someones trying to exploit your system and failing,
check your process manager and see if there are any instances of cmd.exe or
ping.exe.

Or download a fabulous process manager crafted by my own fair hands
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

Just use windows update, it should patch the RPC vuln automatically.
