Euro 2008 and the British game of Football.?

What is wrong with all the men in the UK and the un-natural addiction to football? Also what is the point?
With the England team too pathetic to qualify for the Euro 2008 I think the subject of football should be avoided, especially in public places!
Instead however while supping a quite pint at my local yesterday, I had to listen to an over enthusiastic 'male mothers meeting' about the Spainish teams odds and detailed analysis of there players skills.
What?
They were also all wearing various T-shirts adorning football club logos from places they had no association with or likely ever even been to!
So why does a Dorset born and bred man support Liverpool F.C? And even if there was a reason (i.e my great great grandfather was from Mersyside) there is hardly any English players in English teams anymore because there all too rubbish, hence the Euro.
So whats the point chaps? What am I missing?
At the end of the day it's all about money. But who are the mugs that pay? YOU ARE!
