He describes things like 'player developements' and 'positive effects of English football' but ignores the financial failure and the silverware failure that Liverpool have been. He also completely ignores the fact that they didn't even compete for the title apart from day 1

It was a successful season in terms of developments, so what if they never won anything!

We were 11 points off the title, which shows we are closing in each season, Torres was unbelievable, Babel and Lucas will be better next season. Reina kept the most clean sheets in the Prem winning golden glove award, Reserves won the league, apart from the 3-0 thrashing by Man Utd, at least we held Arsenal to 1-1 draws, and drawn both times in the PL with Chelsea (even though we dominated both games).

So yes it was successfull if you think about it!

Think of all the shit that was going on inside their boardroom and how that translated onto the field and onto the players. Considering the monstrous disaster that is Tom Hicks and American owner ship I think Liverpool did have a dam fine season.
