| What is North Korea's problem? Every international football (soccer) match... ...there is all that violence ...? This week it was the women's football team; kicking the referees and hurling whatever at the spectators. Man, they looked really psycho. Then there was that incident in the qualifiers for the Men's World Cup where N. Korean spectators ripped up their seats and hurled them onto the field because they didn't like the referee's decision. T.V. footage showed the away team's bus completely surrounded by rioting spectators. Scary. That led to a rematch in an empty stadium in a neutral country. It's deeper than the Zidane or Rooney loss of temper; this is insane aggression at its worst. Should N. Korea be banned from all tournaments until they can control themselves? Football reflects national character, so they say. What with the abductions and missiles pointed all over Asia, this country really scares me. Are you scared too?
The men's match was between Iran and N. Korea. I made a mistake in my original question; the match played in a neutral country with all spectators banned was the 2nd round of the qualifiers between N. Korea and Japan. Not a rematch. Sorry! |
