I want to join the Marine Reserves but would like some info on the Marine Reserves?

I know that if i joined the Marine Reserves I know i would be close to home.....If i wanted to be deployed to Iraq i don't want to be sitting on my hands and not doing anything i want to be fighting..(i know the war is over and there is no fighting) but i want to know that if we went to war with Iran or something could i ask like i want to go to Iran and fight and be in combat like in the infantry fighting.....because I was reading around and found out that those who get deployed in the Marine Reserves are put in the back while active duty Marines are out fighting......To me its like why join a High school football team and not every get to play in one game all 4 years........and im from Chicago so if anyone here lives in Chicago and is in the Marine Reserves please feel free if you can to give me as much info as possible thanks.

Well first of all currently in Afghanistan there are battles going on..Marines are killing the enemy and some Marines have died also this passed month..

Your in Iran already and we have yet to finish our two current issues..so slow your roll..

Where you go and what you do will always depend on what your MOS is..If your an infantry reservist then when activated you will not be in any rear camp sitting on your ass..

And by the way..there are still no front lines in Iraq..So lets stop asking to go to the front lines..You need to research how these types of wars are fought..This way you have some understanding as to who goes where and why they get sent there..

if you are going to join Army or Marine reserves you might as well go active. the guard and reserve is deploying just as much as active these days and you dont get full pay in between deployments, but the catch 22 is your not home long enough to get your civie career in gear.
