Fans of Mexico: I admire your passion, and I respect your team! But I have been reading many works of fiction on this message board: Many of you think that Mexico will win the World Cup in 2010! This is not possible. Mexico is just not good enough. They are amongst the 2nd tier of good teams, below the likes of Germany, Argentina, France, Italy, Brazil, etc. Mexico is on par with teams like Portugal, the Czech Republic, Paraguay, USA, and Korea. Good teams, but not capable of winning the world cup. So Mexican fans: Why will Mexico, who has not won a 2nd Round game in the world cup since 1986 (in Mexico), win the 2010 world cup?

We have what it takes and if we think positive we know one day it will happen and your wrong I think Mexico is in the level of Brazil and Germany this is why. First of all the World Cup will be held in a neutral nation like South Africa. From the teams mentioned above Mexico has beat Brazil and just lost to Germany in Extra time, played our hearts out against Argentina, lost in a close game against France, lost against Holland with a team full of subs after going 1-0 up, a draw against Italy in 2002 World Cup, beaten Paraguay 6-0 and in September we will beat the US. We have accomplished more than the Czech Republic which to me is overrated because they are just European but they have accomplished nothing. Korea sorry but they suck Mexico would kill them and its the truth. Portugal from all the teams you mentioned above were the only ones along with Argentina who actually dominated Mexico in a game. Things change and to me Mexico just needs to put that extra effort and by 2010 we will have a badass team with players developing from the U-17 World Cup winning squad and the current players representing Mexico in Europe. I hope you respect my answer but all dreams start with a motivation

and second, dont put team usa above mexico,usa dowsnt deserve it, i can see how mexico fans can beleive they can win it cuz theyve been having alot of stars doing real well latley, but alot can happen in 3 years

Dude, stop dreaming and face reality. There may or may not even be World Cup 2010 looking at the crisis in the Middle-East. Furthermore, the terrorists will not only "love" America, they may even "play" with the American soldiers.

For God-sack, Mexico is still a long way from winning the World Cup. As of now, hope that they will stop dreaming and start working right away or face discrimination from all over Mexico.

Mexico is a good team that is consistent with their winnings for the most part, I agree with what you say in that they aren't quite on par with teams such as Argentina, Germany, Italy, etc. but it's not good to put down the people who are a little enthusiastic. Although, I must say, the Mexico supporters sometimes are a nuisance, lol but anyways, you should keep your hopes up because you never know what will happen in a game, luck can be the trait you need sometimes, instead of skill. I mean, look at me, I supported Iraq in the AFC cup (really, just didn't think they win, I mean, who did?) and look what happened!

i think Mexico will win they have a lot of young good players coming up like Giovanni dos Santos etc... Mexico won the under 17th world cup 2 or 3 years ago and most of those players are now playing for big clubs like dos Santos(Barcelona) i do believe this time for glory is ahead.

Its possible that Mexico wins even more than the US. I see all these US fans saying the US is the best and they will win every tournament and then they don't even win one game.
Lets see, France was the lowest scoring most boring team to qualify to the World Cup, Mexico was the highest scoring team scoring over 70 goals. Lets see the last matchups between Mexico and the teams you mentioned. Last 9 meetings vs Brazil- Mexico has 6W 1L 2T. We lost to Germany 4-3 in the 2005 Confederations cup, We lost to France 1-0 in a Friendly, Tied with Italy 1-1 in teh WC 2002. We eliminated Argentina from Copa America 2004 1-0. Lost to them 2-1 in ET in WC 2006, an lost 3-0 in an off game Copa America. Yet we are not in par with these teams?????? Lets see in 2010 we are gonna have potential 4-5 players in Barca (Marquez, Gio Dos Santos, Osorio, Jonathan Dos Santos and maybe Effrain Juarez), Vela(Arsenal), Salcido PSV(looks like he might be sold to Chelsea), Guardado might end up in Real Madrid, Man U is interested in Ochoa, amongst other player playing not just in Europe, but the top teams in Europe. Not to mention Nery EL DEMONIO Castillo will be in his prime. By the way the US is in the 4-5 Tier of teams!!
