Yes Mexico is in the second tier of teams, but so was France before they won the '98 world cup. France wouldn't have won the world cup if they hadn't hosted it. I don't think they will win in 2010. But imagine Mexico becomes the first country to host the world cup for a third time in 2014. Then with all the great players that they have they would really have a chance. All I know is that I will be cheering on my team in every game that they play.

In 2010, Mexico will have the best World Cup in the history of Mexico, whether we win it or not. We will have the best talent we've ever had. The legendary coach, and the best defense, goalie, offense, and mid. I say we'll at very least, make the Q finals. But for sure, the 2014 WC will be ours, where the likes of Jonathan Dos Santos (supposed to have better talent than his older brother, Giovanni dos Santos), Andoni Cabrero (the next Maradona), and the other stars will be old enough and have the needed expirience to lift the cup.

Why will they win the WC? They are talented enough to compete with the favourites - their only MAJOR drawback is that Hugo Sanchez is not the best coaching choice (despite his great efforts as a player) ... if Mexico is serious about winning it, then either Hugo needs to have his team play like Dunga's Brasil team or else get a new coach like Dunga or Klinnsman (a top notch coach who is currently not coaching any national clubs) or Marcelo Lippi... I just don't see them getting very far with Hugo (he fields mostly the right players for the team but other than that he doesn't offer what a Klinnsman or Dunga would offer)

Why do you combien the U.S. and Korea with the 2nd tier group? They are most likely 4th to 5th tier. But Mexico as been growing alot. Did you saw this last Copa America? With this rythm Mexico can grow even more, so I think it's possible that Mexico can do greater things in the future. Maybe not this next world cup, but one day, not very far. You see, people see the Mexican team as the team of the people and many love them because of that. That is why many go for Mexico.
