I have a question for Muslims. What are your thoughts on this?

Kamal Atarturk, the guy who modernized Turkey with his brand of secularism really gets on my nerves as his own wife wears the headscarf, i mean the kind that covers every strand of hair right down to every inch of the neck. For him to create a draconian law against Hijab is a joke and made many Muslims who would have supported his reformation movement quite uncomfortable . That's an extremely undemocratic move , about as tyrannical as parents who forces their daughter to cover themselves with Hijab . In the end , it is the girls who lose. It is as though all the minute details in their life are determine by everybody else except themselves. Since nothing is for her to decide , it might be that she just stops from learning how to make decisions period thus thwarting her personal growth. Whatever it is it's not for anybody else but the person herself who should decide.

As for the soccer girl, well what can i say . I grew up playing football tho i don't like watching em on TV so i know what that's like. I know a few Iranians and all of them seriously wants change but there's not enuff space to speak out. Of cos, this has nothing to do with Islam i mean Prophet Muhammad's wife Aisha was a horse-rider and archer so i don't understand what one earth these mullas are up to. News like these keep on appearing and it's depressing .

I think because the the Iranians do not want thier lustful men to brush against the bodies of stranger women in crowded stadiums.

Edication not repression should be the solution. Muslims usually prefer repression over education and that is very sad commentary on a world religion that was once a glorious force in the march of world civilization. It is now dead because of its own narrow mindedness.

I think you could take a verse that says to protect women and stretch it to restict their freedoms no matter how absurd the stretch in any society dominated by a religion. the more power a relgion hasin a society, the less empowered multiple groups withint that society become.
