The UEFA Cup contenders, playing in front of a 40,000 home crowd at the Olympic Stadium, went behind to a 29th-minute goal from Giorgos Xenithis.
Things went from bad to worse when 22-year-old Nigerian Benjamin Onwuachi fired the second on 70 minutes.
Ionikos lead the table on four points along with PAOK Salonika, who beat city rivals Iraklis 3-1 thanks to a hat-trick from former Poland international Marcin Mieciel.
The 30-year-old Mieciel put PAOK ahead in the 27th minute before adding a second two minutes into the second half.
Iraklis, who came fourth last year and are also in this season's UEFA Cup, pulled one back but Mieciel secured the three points with his third goal in the 64th minute. |
