Turkish Coach is Confident of a Positive Result in Greece

Saturday's EURO 2008 qualifier between Greece and Turkey is nothing but a soccer game according to Turkey coach Fatih Terim. The Turkish coach tried to diffuse all that has been reported in the Turkish news papers these past few days. Terim said that he respects the Greek national team and that he trusts that his team will get a positive result at the Karaiskaki stadium on Saturday.

"I have nothing to share. We received a very beautiful and warm welcome. It is the same as two years ago when the two teams met in Greece and it was the same in Constantinople as well," said Terim.

"I am aware of what the Greek national team can do. They have a very good team of players and that is why they won the 2006 European championship in Portugal even though they were criticized that they played a defensive competition. From that time until now Greece has had pretty much the same body of players. Nikopolidis has always been there for the team. He does not even miss a friendly," added Terim.

"I trust all of my players. Although we are missing some key strikers that does not mean we are not going to play attacking soccer. That is our philosophy. We want to advance to the EURO 2008 finals stage and eventually win it," said Terim.

"At this time we can only thing about the game against Greece this coming Saturday. Nothing is lost, whatever the outcome of the game, as both teams are not behind in the standings table. We have a very tough group as three teams are vying to advance: Turkey, Greece and Norway. At the same time any of the outsider teams can create havoc by cutting off points from the better teams," concluded Terim.
