I thought he was an excellent player for Rangers. Souness pulled the biggest stunt ever in Scottish football when he signed him from right under his greatest rivals' noses.

What's your take on that episode now, 20 years on ?
This question was not asked to wind anyone up. I remember the anger from both sets of fans when it happened, and they were valid, too. My biggest concern was a lack of loyalty. I would question his character, but he was an excellent striker. Thankfully, there would be no such fuss nowadays whenever rangers sign a Catholic player. I could not care less what a players faith is, as long as he plays well for Rangers.

souness certainly upset a few folk then..i think it was worse because he had already said he was going to celtic then ended up at rangers..at least he didn't kiss the badge when he scored against his old team..great signing that broke down a lot of barriers..good player for every team he played for..did the celtic fans ever forgive him for going to rangers

lol annemarie..what did you do with your pencil case...

Thomas the guy that ran my dads supporters bus told them all to rip up their books..he was the only eejit that did it...he still runs the same bus so he soon changed his mind..lol

Have to admit it still ranks up there as one of the most unexpected events in Scottish football. Still hate the guy but not because he did the dirty on the Hoops but because I wrote Mo, Mo, Super Mo, on my new pencil case. Raging.

Bluebell: I tried to tipex it out but had use a black inky and it kept coming through, had to throw it out and buy a new one. My mum wasnt best pleased! Fecking Mo Johnston.

great player for both teams, better for rangers id say,we got our own back in signing steals,mc donald ,brown, samaras, big john hartson done more at Celtic than Morris ever did, rangers lost out there,i wander if the scarf burners ever went back to ibrox, still dont like him,not sure if morris had much to do with the signing, was it all down to Mc Murdo,he looked a right evil............

It was a bloody brilliant move looking back at it now.
It did question a lot of fans loyalties to the club and to be honest I wasn't happy about it at the time in fact I was bloody fuming, how could a person who played for celtic possibly show any loyalty to rangers was my question at the time but he proved himself to the fans and I was soon eating humble pie believe me.
Still can't believe it was 20 years ago,omg how old do I feel now lol

Mind you would also love to know how the celtic fans felt at the time!!!!

He was quite simply the most important signing rangers have ever made, as someone has already said it opened the gate for rangers signing catholics, without murray and souness, gazza a catholic might never have played for rangers.
