'Israel' vs 'Palestine' is jews v muslims right?'Nationalist' vs 'unionist' is Ireland.'Rangers' vs 'Celtic protestant v catholic (scotland/ireland and some of england) only in football... this is the biggest two clubs in scotland.
How is this allowed to just slip under the radar?

I think that people just divide themselves along sectarian lines because those are the groups that they have the most solidarity with.
The most fascinating thing about some of these, particularly the Intifadeh, is that many of the people fighting are not aware of the real reasons they are fighting, only that their forefathers fought the same battle. Of course sectarian violence has some foundation in the faiths of the people involved, but if we take the Northern Ireland situation, the religious lines were drawn when the British shipped Scottish protestants into Northern Ireland to suppress the Catholics. Frequently, faith is a factor rather than the issue.
