Union Jack Scots used till 1707

This isn't really a football related subject, but I thought it was interesting. Not that I am aware that the Scottish ever took to the Union Jack in a huge way, but here is what Wikipedia says about it. Ya, I know, Wikipedia acan at times be unreliable, but not always. Here it is:

The two shown here include St George's cross with St Andrew's cross in the canton, and another version where the two crosses are side-by-side. Also, some Scots were upset that the Scottish flag was underneath the English flag in the version finally adopted, and preferred a version where the Scottish cross was on top (the English flag was placed between the cross of St Andrew and its background).

Many Welsh people have proposed modifying the Union Flag to include either the Red Dragon or the black and gold colours of the flag of Saint David, arguing that the current design fails to represent their country.




There you have it Scottish brothers, St. Andrew's Cross on top of St. George's cross, not the other way around as it officially is today.

Im not keen on the union jack anyway as it is normally used when associated with England, BNP(nazi party) and tories(conservatives,upper class twats). The only time ill tolerate it is in the Mod-scene lol. but that sure would be an improvement on what it is today, im sick of england being the dominant nation in all aspects related to the UK. The welsh do have a fair point about it not representing them, i think they should put maybe a small red dragon on the middle of this flag posted and make that the real union flag.

Nice Stevo, we can always count on you for an honest response. I have to say, I think the Scots are gold, but I still question if they ever accept any Union Jack - but not impossible.

Concidering we have our own government for our home affairs i doubt any englishmen can change our flag to the st. georges cross.. at least we do not make up stories of our patrent saint(and greece and russia i might add) that both Scotland and England flags symbolize, slaying dragons.

I believe Scotland, England, Wales and Northern Ireland should all have a say in the Flag of the United Kingdom because after all this flag doesnt represent a single country, it represents 4.

Don't tell me you Scottish boys will go and quote William Wallace from Braveheart now. Get this straight lads, England is the UK. Without England, the UK would be nothing. How would you like your greatest minds being Scottish, Welsh, or Irish? LOL Just taking the piss but really, England is the UK.
