UCL 2008-2009 Group Stage Day Ten

BORDEAUX 1 (Diarra 83)
CHELSEA 1 (Anelka 60)

Anelka raced away onto Lampard's excellent first time past and dropped
the 'keeper with a series of dummies before tapping into an empty net.
Diarra got above public liability John Terry, who is useless at set
pieces due to back problems, to head in the equaliser from a Gourcuff
corner.

Attendance : 34,307
Red Card : Lampard 86 (Chelsea)
Assists : Lampard, Gourcuff (ck)

CFR CLUJ 1 (Kone 30)
ROMA 3 (Brighi 11, Totti 23 fk, Brighi 64)

Cassetti released Perrotta with an excellent ball down the right
channel, Perrotta just managed to keep the ball in play and lobbed a
cross over Cluj's goalkeeper for Brighi to tap into an empty net. Totti
whipped a free kick up, over and around the Cluj wall to put the
Giallorossi 0-2 up. Doni failed to make what should have been a routine
save from Pereira and Kone headed in the rebound. Brighi finished off a
neat passing move to give Roma one foot in the last 16.

Attendance : 20,000
Assists : Perrotta, Baptista (fk), n/a, Taddei

INTER 0
PANATHINAIKOS 1 (Sarriegi 69)

Attendance : 35,000
Assist : n/a

FAMAGUSTA 2 (Nikolaou 62, Savio 68)
BREMEN 2 (Diego 72 Pen, Hugo Almeida 87)

Ketsbaia's men broke the deadlock from a corner. Savio overhit a cross
to the back post and unmarked Nikolaou's volley whistled past Vander at
his near post. With Bremen chasing the game Famagusta ripped them open
on the break, Laban started the counter attack with a great tackle in
his own half then spread the play wide to Taher, his centre drew a point
blank save from Frousos and Savio scored on the rebound. Tosic lost
possession in his own penalty area and Hunt threw himself over the
defenders idiotic recovery tackle to win a penalty. Choker Diego
converted. Famagusta shat themselves and conceded an inevitable
equaliser, Hugo Almeida rifling in from close range after Rosenborg
misdirected a header. There was still time for Famagusta's Panagi to
miss an absolute sitter at the death.

Attendance : 20,000
Assists : Savio (ck), n/a, Hunt (won pen), Rosenborg

SHAKHTAR DONETSK 5 (Jadson 32, Willian 50, Jadson 65, Jadson 72,
Seleznov 75)
BASEL 0

Jadson sent Chaka Khan into a half time lead with a first time shot from
the edge of the box. Willian who is of course Brazilian began the second
half rout with a superb individual goal, he cut in the from the left and
beat three players before scoring in off a post. Jadson tapped in his
second from Srna centre and completed his hat-trick by finishing off a
rapid counter attack. A frustrated Gai smashed a ball out of defence but
Chaka Khan intercepted and two passes later it was 5-0.

Attendance : 20,000
Assists : Gay, Rat, Srna, Willian, Jadson

SPORTING 2 (Miguel Veloso 65, Liedson 66)
BARCELONA 5 (Henry 14, Pique 17, Messi 49, Marco Caneira 67 og, Bojan 73
Pen)

Henry started a one-two with Messi 25 yards from goal, he continued his
run into the box as the injury prone midget teased a defender before
wriggling away and centring for the Frenchman to score his first
Champions League goal this season. Barca's second was somewhat of a
rarity, a goal from a corner. Gudjohnsen mistimed his leap when
attacking a cross and Pique poked past Rui Patricio. Messi made it 3-0
from a quickly taken free kick and was substituted three minutes before
the hour. Sporting threatened to make a game of it with a quick-fire
double. Miguel Veloso blasted in a free kick and Liedson seized on a
hospital pass before rifled the ball between Valdez's legs. Caneira
ended Sporting's hopes of a comeback with a stupid own goal. Patricio
was sent off for obstructing Bojan and the teenager picked himself up
score a moral boosting goal.

Attendance : 62,000
Red Card : Rui Patricio 71 (Sporting)
Assists : Messi, Gudjohnsen, Dani Alves (fk), n/a, n/a, n/a, Bojan (won pen)

ATLETICO MADRID 2 (Simao 14, Maxi Rodriguez 28)
PSV 1 (Koevermans 47)

Simao miss-hit a shot from a throw in, Salcido gave him another chance
with an insane back heel and this time he didn't miss. Maxi Rodriguez
whacked in the second following another deflection off a PSV player from
a set piece and the roles were reversed when Koevermans pulled a goal
back at the start of the second half.

Someone needs to explain to me how a match behind closed doors is
punishment? Surely it would make sense to punish teams that break UEFA
rules by making them play their games at the opposition ground?

Attendance : n/a
Assists : n/a, n/a, Simons

LIVERPOOL 1 (Gerrard 23)
MARSEILLE 0

Attendance : 40,024
Assists : Xabi Alonso
