Arsenal paying the price for Wenger's incompetence

> Subject : Arsenal paying the price for Wenger's incompetence

Putting the trolling in this thread aside (and when will people learn to
stop crossposting?) there is no one better qualified to lead THIS group
of players but nothing will change until Wenger gets his head out of his
arse and gets over this stubborn belief that his methods and his players
are beyond criticism. It takes a big man to admit to making mistakes and
Wenger and has never been man enough. How was is NOT clear Gallas was a
disaster as captain last season? Then look further back to his laughable
defence of players like Seaman and Cygan and of course hiding behind
this young side crap for the past four years. Arsenal's supporters don't
help matters with the religious zeal in which they buy this crap and
defend their coach and players nor do fans of other clubs who also buy
into this young side crap. The bottom line is the bottom line and over
the past four years Wenger has been a failure.

The problem is, there is no evidence that ARsenal have any money to
spend and you can't fault Wenger for that. Ajax went into a decline they
never recovered from after they built their new stadium.

As other's have said, Wenger's failure has been marginal and the fact
he's done it with little or no money means he's done a far better job
than anybody else apart from Taggart and Mourinho.

Seen the wisdom finally?

(it didn't take much seeing since it was there in front of everyones
face).

Arsenal's debt is restricting the amount of money available for the
transfer market, I said this a year ago and was met with derision in
here. The only thing I really don't understand is why your board has
hung Wenger out to dry, why not come out and say that the money isn't
there instead of making it seem that there is all kinds of money
available but Wenger refuses to spend it. The man deserves better!
As far as "Wenger out" that's just plain foolish, considering the
true budget the man has he's done very well for the club!

Arsenal paying the price for Wenger's incompetence

Agreed.

In my books he's hasn't really proven anything yet. 3 hand-me-down
Scudettos doesnt prove much. He does have big club experience though,
like you mention.

Possibly. A plus is that he shares Wenger's attacking philosophy.

Hell no. He's the Italian Steve McClaren.

It's very hard to do badly at Lyon.

IMO Moyes and O'Neill are better choices than most of the above list.
I think England has become too enamoured with foreign coaches. I have
nothing against foreign coaches (how can I, I'm not English :-) but
when I see appointments like Zola then I roll my eyes. The guy hasn't
proven shit, he's just a name brand from his playing days. Now if he
was English (e.g. Adams, Shearer, Ince) then a case could be made for
him being given this chance on name alone. But to be a foreigner AND
have no experience is a disrespect to English coaches. Somone like
Phil Brown should be far more deserving of such a chance.

Anyway, Arsenal would be insane to let Wenger go. There are 2
possibilities here:
1) Wenger really doesnt have money to spend, and in that case he's
blameless
2) He has the money but doesnt want to spend, in which case the board
need to pressure him to spend on proven and experienced stars

The truth is that we hear conflicting reports on this so no one except
Arsenal insiders know the real truth.

Eboue is a dirty bastard but he's a fine player, Almunia is average on

Right. Like I said in my response to MH, no one knows what the fack
really goes on behind closed doors at the Emirates. I also wish Wenger
would stop trying to play CFO and concentrate more on the pitch.

Agree 100%.

Who is Fishface?

It's not the money, it's his policy of continually getting rid of older
players and replacing them with younger players. If money was an issue
why does Wenger never chase free transfers? Because they tend to be
older players. How can someone who has been coaching for almost a
quarter of a century not realise skill, speed and youth are no
substitute for experience? He appeared to turn the corner when he signed
Hleb and Rosicky but now they're both effectively gone.

We'll know if money is an issue at the end of the season.

Bugger off, already.
