Quite probably true. I was living in Mexico in the second Bora era, and
they did give him an awfully rough ride even then, though.

Yes , i read that too. Doesn't mean it will happen.

Also, skin of their teeth is B.S. There was no reasonable way Mexico's
result in their last game was going to have any effect on their
qualification. They knew they could lose by a goal or two, and would
still qualify unless Jamaica scored a ridiculous number of goals.

Eg. 2-0 loss by Mexico, 5-0 win by Jamaica, and Mexico still qualifies.

They must have been a bit nervous when they saw the Canadian squad, though.

The commentator on the field for the Mexican TV was saying that
Oswaldo Sánchez asked several times during the game how Canada was
doing.

The problem with firing Eriksson is that there seems to be no viable
replacement. I think he was hired so that he could handle the players
playing in Europe, but his lack of familiarity with the CONCACAF
environment has been too much. If only Javier Aguirre were
available...

Out of curiosity, what are people like Manuel Mejia Baron, Manolo
Lapuente, Enrique Meza etc. doing these days ?

Are there any up and coming young Mexican coaches ? Any former stars
now coaching (Hermosillo, Luis Garcia, Garcia-Aspe, Ramon Ramirez,
Ricardo Pelaez etc. ?)

Lapuente is coaching Tigres and Meza is coaching Pachuca, who will
play the world clubs cup in December. I don't know about Mejía Barón.

Hermosillo is now the federal sports minister. Luis García is a
commentator for TV Azteca, as García Aspe and Peláez are for
Televisa. I don't know about Ramírez.

There are some young coaches, (like Salvador Reyes in Necaxa and J. de
la Torre in Toluca) but the only one which I remember playing
internationally is Miguel Herrera who is coaching Tecos UAG.

The only Mexican coach which has been consistenly succesful bringing
average teams to the top of the table is Raúl Arias, of San Luis, but
I think the main reason he will not get the NT is because he lacks the
"glamour" needed for such a job.
