Unsophisticated Prediction League - [R] November 15,16 (week4) ruud wrote: Hmm, ruud, are you really sure that your post went through to begin with? I'm asking, because there's no evidence anywhere on the net that it ever existed. Not that I doubt you, but could it be that you only /thought/ that you had posted, while for whatever reasons (e.g. technical), posting failed? I'm asking because currently more and more news servers ignore cancellation requests, and you can't kill a post even if you want to. In particular, Google Groups ignores cancellations, as I discovered recently when I wanted to cancel a post that I sent in error. It got canceled on the originating server and on a couple of other well-behaved ones, but remained on GG and on several others. The fact that your post is not found on GG, suggests very strongly that it never existed, or that it was canceled on the originating server the very second it landed there - something not impossible, but very improbable. If so, you really got very unlucky. -- No, no, you can't e-mail me with the nono.

Unsophisticated Prediction League - [R] November 15,16 (week 4) Enzo: I've never said that it was fair... The rules are supposed to bring fun,and - in the case of table #2 - hope for everyone to win the league until the last rounds. (Really, it's something like the cup format in real football: the winner team isn't always the best team, but every match has pathos.) Anyway, nothing prevent us to award the RSS with the best predictive ability at the end of the game. -- Cheers milivella

Unsophisticated Prediction League - [R] November 15,16 (week 4) El Kot: I'm very sorry of this incident. Ruud's word should have been enough to me! OTOH, I asked him whether he was sure to have sent the prediction, and he didn't reply: I didn't know how to treat such a situation. I hope that we can find an agreement with Miguel: eventually a draw (the match being West Ham vs. West Ham)? (I could say that everyone should check, after posting, that his post is received by Google Groups, but, come on, who wants to do it every time?) -- Cheers milivella

Unsophisticated Prediction League - [R] November 15,16 (week 4) milivella wrote: More precisely, you explicitly said it wasn't. ;-) You mean, like most goals scored (irrespective of goals conceded) ? That would be more or less what I suggested, running the race all at the same time, instead of as a tournament.

Unsophisticated Prediction League - [R] November 15,16 (week 4) I forgot: maybe you'd be better off after all to permit picking the same team. Either let people mail their pick directly to you, or just allow it. I don't think anybody will play just to duplicate his opponent's choice.
