Should offide be moved to 35 metres from the goal line?

With scoring a concern with so many people, sometimes meritted, sometimes not meritted. SHould the offside rule be adjusted so that a striker is not considered offside at a 35 metre line instead of centre. I am not advocating this whatsoever, I am just throwing it out there for us to discuss.

I'm not convinced that is a good idea. I think the intent is good, but I don't think it is a good idea. Besides, it may cahnge the game in ways we don't like.

Metres are close in length to a yard. Right? As for the idea of a new offside line, it is pure bollocks.

Forget the Yanks, we need to keep the sport the same as it is. Scoring can be encouraged in other ways, this is too drastic a cheange. I think it will also encourage more defence to hang on the line and a striker or two may hang there two, but it will clog the area. Defences are just too skilled to be tricked by this type of tactic. Wasn't this tried in America many years ago?

Yes it was tried in North America back in the NASL. Mixed results, some games were high scoring, but you still saw the 1-0 games. I don't remember much about it, I was a kid, but I do remember FIFA hated it and was considering suspending the US and Canada to fall into line. THey also hated the three sub rule, but FIFA has since adopted that one.

No moving to 35 metres. That would hurt the game. I did some reading on how the NASL adjusted to it. There was an Italian who play fro the Cosmos named Chinaglia. All he would do is park at that line and wait. Te guy should at lwast have to run back to the centre line.
