| MLS Week 29 [R] Real Salt Lake 0, Houston 1 HOU -- Stuart Holden 5 (Richard Mulrooney 5) 66 Discipline: HOU -- Eddie Robinson (ejection; Denied Goal Scoring Opportunity) 73 RSL -- Yura Movsisyan (ejection; Violent Conduct) 77 Since the start of May, every single RSL game has been close. Only three of their matches have been decided by more than one goal, and they were all one-goal games until a late insurance strike. In spite of all the nip-and-tuck battles, RSL's results in that time period have been dreadful: 5 wins, 7 draws, and 13 losses. P |

For example, if KC loses, then it roots for Chicago to beat LA, but if it doesn't lose, it roots for LA. Here's an attempted breakdown: --- Los Angeles --- IN if they win & Colorado doesn't win IN if they win & KC loses OUT if they don't win OUT if they win but Colorado also wins & KC doesn't lose --- Colorado --- IN if they win & KC loses IN if they win & Chicago loses OUT if they don't win OUT if they win but Chicago & KC also win TIED if they win but KC draws and Chicago doesn't lose TIED if they win but KC wins and Chicago draws --- Kansas City --- IN if they win IN if they draw & Colorado doesn't win IN if they draw & Chicago loses IN if they lose but LA and Colorado don't win OUT if they lose and LA beats Chicago OUT if they lose and Colorado wins TIED if they draw but Colorado wins and Chicago doesn't lose --- Chicago --- IN if they win IN if they draw & KC doesn't win IN if they draw & Colorado doesn't win IN if they lose but KC loses & Colorado doesn't win TIED if they draw, while Colorado & KC win OUT if they lose & KC doesn't OUT if they lose & Colorado wins Out of the 27 possible scenarios, Kansas City -- makes playoffs in 20, tied in 2 Chicago -- makes playoffs in 19, tied in 1 LA -- makes playoffs in 7 Colorado -- makes playoffs in 5, tied in 3 Phew! LA is only eliminated before the game if Colorado wins and KC doesn't lose. With a win they tie Chicago at 37 and win the tiebreaker (They win all tiebreakers IIRC). |

| MLS Week 29 [R] It's simple now: Donovan vs. Blanco on Sunday ... winner makes the playoffs, loser is out, tie goes in Chicago's favor. Colorado 0, RSL 1 RSL -- Robbie Findley 8 (Andy Williams 4) 87 In World Cup 02, after Friedel blocked Korea's penalty, George Edward Pope Jr. slid in to sweep the ball away ... for me, this epitomized his game: not especially attention-getting, but absolutely vital. In today's game, there was an unbelievable double save from Rimando to put the final nail in Colorado's season. Dallas 0, Kansas City 2 KC -- Scott Sealy 6 (Davy Arnaud 8) 39 KC -- Scott Sealy 7 (Jack Jewsbury 3, Davy Arnaud 9) 55 Wizards clinch, Arnaud on fire. Dallas enters the playoffs in tatters. DC 2, Columbus 3 CLB -- Robbie Rogers 2 (Guillermo Barros Schelotto 10) 21 CLB -- Alejandro Moreno 7 (Guillermo Barros Schelotto 11, Eddie Gaven 7) 66 DC -- Christian Gomez 9 (Fred 8, Ben Olsen 7) 89 CLB -- Robbie Rogers 3 (Alejandro Moreno 7) 91+ DC -- Christian Gomez 10 (penalty kick) 93+ Can't help thinking about the Zavagnin dive that won a pk and ended up making the difference between the Wizards and Crew. Right now, Columbus is the better team. Chivas, Houston (late) Hoping for a re-match in three weeks. Toronto 2, New England 2 NE -- Michael Parkhurst 1 (unassisted) 47+ NE -- Taylor Twellman 16 (Steve Ralston 14) 47 TOR -- Collin Samuel 3 (unassisted) 59 TOR -- Danny Dichio 6 (Carl Robinson 4) 92+ TFC fans were ecstatic after this one ... if they ever score 3 goals and win, they'll need to call in the Mounties.
