Cannavaro Shoulder Butt and Punch combo knocked out Henry #2

Cannavaro knocked out Henry with a Shoulder Butt and Left Uppercut
combination, in the 1st minute of the World Cup Final.
This gave Henry a concussion for the rest of the Woirld Cup Final match
and ruined the sport in the match since there is no way to know what might
have happened had Henry played the whole match healthy.

The referee should be Banned from referee for not looking at
videotape to find out what knocked out Henry.
Cannavaro would have a better career in boxing than in soccer.
Cannavaro should have been Sent Off Without Substitution.

Remember the two rules to Boxing Knockouts:

1) it is the punch you do not see which knocks you out (since you
cannot tense your neck muscles to prevent the skull from shaking
the brain around)

2) the punch you walk into is the one that knocks you out (since the
force of your own body contributes to the force of the punch to
knock you out).

3) a Shoulder Butt is harder than a punch.

Remember this is the 1st minute of the match:
Cannavaro had planned this punch, watching tapes of Henry, for days.

Cannavaro should be banned for 6 months or more for ruing the World Cup Final 2006.

The real problem here is that since Thierry Henry was fouled in the 1st minute of
the match and knocked out with a left hook by Cannavaro (apparently no headbutt
was involved, on second look), spectators out here were cheated out of seeing
the true contest between these two teams and ultimately we still do not know
who is the best team, since Henry played the rest of the match recovering
from his concussion.

We all were cheated by a professional, practised foul which Cannavaro
intended to commit against Henry from the moment he stepped on the field.

It is the foul that affects the ability of opponent players to perform that ruins the sport,
not a guy losing his temper and flailing his arms, or even headbutting a guy in the chest,
which really does not hurt and Materazzo saw it coming.

Henry did not see the sneak knockout punch coming, he could not tense his neck muscles
to compensate and that is what knocked him out and gave him a concussion.
That ruined the sport of this World Cup Final 2006.

After watching the tape of the knockout of Henry of France in the 1st minute
of the World Cup Final, it is clear that the punch to the
chin of Henry was intentional and demanded a red card. Cannavaro
should have been sent off and Italy's should have played the rest of the
match with 10 men.

Henry was never the same striker after this incident. This foul had
permanent effect on the match. Spectators were cheated out of seeing a
true contest between the two combatants.

The commentating on this foul simply did not describe this foul adequately.
The US TV feed commentating was also dead wrong on the description
of the 6 second mugging of Wayne Rooney which resulted in Rooney
being sent off.

It was an excellent punch though. Cannavaro may have a future
as a professional boxer.

This fouling incident reminded me of the headbutt and punch foul Evander Holyfield
committed against Mike Tyson in their second fight which opened a cut over
Tyson's right eye, which led to the ear-biting incident.

Lilian Thuram was the Defensive Man Of The Match, and he played for France.
Thuram's nullifications of Italy's strikers allowed his team France to spend most of the
match attacking. Unfortunately for France, Thierry Henry could not capitalize on
the attacks because he spent the whole match recovering from the concussion
he received in the 1st minute from Cannavaro.

We were all cheated out of what could have been a great soccer match.
Cannavaro should have been sent off in the 1st minute of the match.

A concussion is not a knock. If a concussion knocks out a guy,
his legs are not going to be the same for hours, at least.

The commentator on the US TV feed, who was a central defender for the
US 8 years ago and still plays for the Colorado Rapids in the MLS who
normally commentates on the side of defenders, Marcelo Balboa, states:

"...Cannavaro steps right into his way...just looks like he got hit in the face...
and uhh he doesn't look good getting up..."

Here is a reference for anyone who cares enough about this non-event
that seems to completely occupy Mr. Shocked, who appears to be
delusional over the alleged

There is only incidental contact between Henry and Cannavaro... that's
why no foul was called by the officials. There is certainly "no
shoulder butt and punch combo"... this implies intent which is not
evident. If Henry had a concussion, it was as much the result of his
neglect to look where he was going as anything else.
