Why is the media lobbying for affirmative action for college football coaches?

The media has been whining in recent weeks that only 2 coaches in FBS college football are black, even though 70% of the players are black. The implication is that the athletic directors in the colleges are racists.

Why doesn't the media ever mention the inconvenient truth that many minority coaches have been fired or resigned because they were doing an awful job (for example, Ty Willingham, coach of inept Washington until the end of this season)? Besides that, why does the media still need to continue to pretend that there is actually such a thing as "race" in the first place?

Haven't we moved past this constant race-baiting yet? Why does the media believe that coaches should be hired according to skin tone and not according to their ability?
