It's very simple. Frank Lampard is always Mr Bean, not just when he pulls on an England shirt.































At Chelsea he has a license to push on and this lets him indulge the strong areas of his game - ie attacking the penalty area and shooting from distance. He is almost free from responsibilities. Playing this role also 'masks' the weaker areas of his game - his positional sense, passing, anticipation and tackling.































For England he fulfills a different role, one which does not afford him the luxuries he has at club level. In an England shirt, his role demands him to be a more well rounded midfielder. Which he is not. Therefore, his faults are laid bare for all to see.































I'm not knocking Frank for the sake of it, I've never thought particularly highly of him and I think his presence in the England team inhibits Steven Gerrard too... Lamps is an honest pro and I wish him well. But he should not be in the England team IMO.

Not always! Look at his performances in Euro 2004. Along with Rooney he was probably our best player.































The answer is that the tactics probably don't suit his natural game.

Some players paly very well at club level but are mediocre for their country.It's not just the case with Lamps.Look at his goals,they r mostly against small clubs.I have not seen him play as well in big club matches.And at the international level it is even tougher...so no wonder he and other over rated guys fail......surely if a guy scores 30 yarders often for his club but can't even score a penalty in an international.....Is it appropriate to call him a greedy bum?
