Why is Frank Lampard so overrated?

I honestly have little admiration for Frank Lampard.As a midfielder he does score a lot of goals and he's a good passer of the ball.But I think it ends there.He's not very creative,hasn't got great technique,little charisma, and practically no flair.He often wanders about aimlessly in matches and then pops up to score a goal out of the blue and then he turns into an instant hero.I find it very annoying that a player with as little talent as him gets hyped up so much and even considered for awards.Creative and workaholic midfielders like Joe Cole and Aaron Lennon then get a back seat because they do not score as many goals.

for the same reason david beckham is and many more like him. footballers are well over rated, over hyped and to add to the stupidity of it all....over paid as well. they all need bring down to earth, exactly where that ball is.

he is overrated because of the club he plays for . . . he scores some amazing goals and creates brilliant chances for chelsea but when it comes to performing for his country he doens't perform... whether this is through shear poorness of his quality or whether he doesn't click with the england team ... he is so overrated for england becoz of that time when we beat germany 5-1 since then everyone has been sayin oh he's fantastic and so are england but really they're not ... they play good footy at times but not most of the time... my opinion is we dont need gerrard n lampard in the middle together . it doesnt work.. lampard is overrated coz he scores goals at chelsea agenst prem teams but when it comes to international quality teams he doesnt shine n this shows he is not all that good a player (-: hope iv answered ur question well im sure ill get a few thumbs down but oh well lol... and yes i do agree with everything u say about aaron lennon and joe cole they're much better players than him and also david beckham !

Mate I dont rate lampard either. I think the only reason he performs so well for Chelsea is because of Makelele sitting deep for cover so he just wanders around all day hoping to get a loose ball to score. The reason he doesnt do this for England is because both he and Gerrard like to get forward so someone has to do the dirty work which Lamps is afraid of. The sooner MacClaren desides to drop lampard for Hargreaves and Gerrard in centre mid the sooner England can have a hope of winning something!

I think anyone who scores 20+ goals a season from midfield can't be classed as overrated..I mean if a striker got 20 goals a season, he'd be a legend















Lampard is an old style type of player.. He is quiet and then has 5 minutes of genius in a match where he scores or makes an assist..















I don't particularly like chelsea, and the players around him tend to take all the plaudits ( like robben and Joe Cole) but lampard had a great season compared to ballack, mikel, and makelele..















aaron Lennon is going to be a legend if he applies himself more, and Joe Cole is a joy to watch but infuriates me sometimes, showboating instead of playing simple balls...































okay so everyone likes to see a bit of flair, and get value for their money..but there's no better value than 3 points..and how many times has it been Lampard who has got the vital goal that gave chelsea the points??

during the world cup he showed that he could not hit a cows backside with a banjo simply because he was overawed,and against top class players.He is very overrated but i am glad he plays for Chelsea as he just fills a spot that a more talented player can have and allows sides a better chance of beating chelsea.

I have been wondering this for years now and only recently have people picked up on it. He is THE most overrated player of all time, but we must admit its not his fault.















Its probably more down to the fact that the english press need to build people up to knock them down again.















The very fact he is english and playing with superstars is another reason - england are way behind the top international sides so we try and make gods out of our average footballers.















How he gets in the england side is beyond me, perhaps now that Hargreaves is fit we may see a change. If only Gerrard was not brilliant everywhere you we play him.















Lampard although a good footballer is not half as good as he is made out to be.
