Why aren't there any player-managers in football anymore?

There was a time when many player-managers played important parts in both roles for big clubs, e.g. Graeme Souness for Rangers, Kenny Dalglish for Liverpool and Gianluca Vialli for Chelsea. Don't see any nowadays. Why aren't player-managers hired anymore?

If a manager is playing alongside you, they have to be perfect or you can't look at them and respect their word if they play worse than you.

Good question! probaly because the fitness levels of players is much higher these days a lot of player /managers were in their thirties , is a hard job to do as well and the assistant manager would have to make the changes as the player manager doesn't have a birds eye view of the pitch
