"City are crap". Pele, Teixeira, Fernandos and Robberinho's mum

Pele: Robinho needs counselling after rejecting Chelsea for Man City
Former Brazil striker Pele has told Chelsea they have had a lucky
escape after failing to sign Robinho from Real Madrid.

Robinho moved to Manchester City on transfer deadline day for £32.5
million, catching everyone by surprise, with Stamford Bridge
originally thought to be his likely destination.

The 24-year-old engineered a transfer out of the Bernebeu by staging
his own press conference on the opening day of the La Liga season,
declaring he wanted a move to the Premier League.

With Luiz Felipe Scolari now managing Chelsea, London seemed the only
possible option for Robinho, until City snatched the forward from
under the nose of Roman Abramovich on a £6m-a-year deal.

Back in Brazil, many supporters have frowned upon Robinho's antics and
choice of club.

Even the player's mother, Marina, has said she does not know why he
chose to go to City and reject the chance to play under Scolari.

Despite the fact Real were reluctant to sell to one of their Champions
League rivals, the Chelsea deal was still expected to go through.

However, when City announced that they had agreed a fee with Real, and
coach Bernd Schuster said the striker had not moved for "footballing
reasons", it left those in Robinho's native Brazil believing he had
let down his country in favour of a quick buck.

Pele said: "Chelsea are lucky. This boy needs some serious
counselling. In my view he has been badly advised."

And the criticism was even more stinging from his former club Santos,
whose president, Marcelo Teixeira, said: "This is one of the most
disgraceful episodes in Brazilian football.

"He is a player who is an idol to children, an example. But he has not
acted like one."

Santos general manager, Jose Fernandos, had his two cents worth as
well, adding: "We are ashamed at having produced such a player."

Darth Simian expressed precisely :

Do you really believe that nonsense. There are over 1000 Brazilian
players playing the game away from their native country. The
Brazilians do not like to see any of them go but once they are over
here they could not really give a monkeys. Believe this or not but
there are many that do not rate Robinho as highly as many of their
other players.

Yet they all seem to think Chelsea are an old big club? Do they not realise
that Chelsea were only a slightly bigger blip on the radar than City before
Abramovich's money? City will be a bigger club than Chelsea real soon. The
fact they're in Manchester will put paid to that - they will capitalise
greatly on the fact we put the city on the football world map for them.

However, forever will they be the second best team in Manchester. Amen.

Pele, bless him. The old boy's brain farts are coming thicker and faster the
older he gets.

In your dreams perhaps, but fortunately your dreams have no bearing on
reality. Manchester United will snap their fingers and any manager they want
would come running. The young squad SAF will leave behind will already have
all the hard work done - they'll be moulded into the best players they can
be, and the next manager will have the luxury of standing on the shoulders
of a giant.

Slitheen was thinking very hard :

It won't be like that at all. It will be one of the hardest pair of
shoes to fill and apart from the money it could well be a thankless
task. There is something worthy of mention here. Ferguson has had
very large amounts of money at his disposal to buy players with. This
has given him a better advantage over other managers. Until Chelsea
came into money the only real competition came from Arsenal, Blackburn
and Liverpool. Oh and Leeds beat you to the title going back a while.
