The youth games... There I agree with you... The refs there need to be
respected... But the Prem Refs... They know the damn score and need to stop
acting like some sort of wounded swan whenever a player comes over to "discuss"
the issues at hand...

How many times have we seen replays now where the the ref has got it completely
wrong... And the players in the game know it... Now they face a yellow (or
worse) card just for trying to tell him to get it right... FFS!! Babies the lot
of 'em! Refs need to either get video back up to prove their position (or help
them make a call- what would it take all of 5 - seconds to review a video) or
stop whining when players disagree with them about calls that can change the
outcome of a match or even the entire premier league or Champions League...

Refs! Buck the fuck up and stop acting like my little sister when players come
around you...!!!!

It's the players who need to stop whining and surround the ref whenever a
throw-in is going against them. It's just as often the players who get the
calls wrong. Every single match you'll see players complain about offside
decisions even though they are clearly 10 yards offside. Players need to
shut the fuck up and get on with the game.

Ra brought next idea :

Well Clive Thomas may have made a few howlers but I have been told he
never walked backwards when players lost their tempers and fronted up
to them.

I think what they do not like is the foul language and the total lack
of respect that has been shown to them.

If the kids see this then they will copy them unfortunatly.

Jesper Nøhr Andersen brought next idea :

The thing is the ref is central to the game, without the officials
there can be no game. Maybe they should intensify the training to
become a ref and on the same note close the disparity between the
players wages compared to the refs.

If the issue is down to civil language then I agree with you... There should be
respect for the ref, but he must respect the players as well!

I agree cursing or pushing the ref is our of order... But telling the ref (even
if it's done strongly - emotions running high) that he got a call wrong...
Should make the ref reconsider the call and perhaps ask his linesmen for their
opinion, not immediately reach for a yellow or red card because the player dared
to question his authority...

I hope it does not come to that... Respect for refs? yes! But it goes both
ways... No ref can or should expect respect from a team/player he shows complete
disrespect to...

If we make refs too damn strong so that no player may approach them to question
a decision, then the whole game is in danger of losing it's credibility...

It's nothing new though. One of the worst for continuous moaning about
decisions was (Saint) Gary Lineker. How that bloke was never booked beggers
belief. He was even doing it in his Final game at Old Trafford. The Strettie
were chanting his name, but I was pleading for the Ref to book him!

It's pathetic. When they are fouled they are moaning and whining. When they
make the foul they are moaning and whining. The ref is never ever right.
Shut the fuck up and do what you're paid billions to do...
