Premier league previews coming in....

So far general consensus seems to be 1. Chelsea 2. Man U 3. Liverpool
4. Arsenal.

This is just one:

Some experts:

Arsenal:

"No team will play the beautiful game more beautifully, particularly
when Cesc Fabregas is on song and striker Emmanuel Adebayor is
concentrating"

Chelsea:
" they will be more swashbuckling than Errol Flynn playing Indiana
Jones. This, at least, is what Roman Abramovich thinks (and expects).
He’s banking on Scolari to make the difference this year and he may
not be disappointed"

"Player to watch Michael Ballack. It’s taken long enough, but finally
Ballack is controlling Chelsea’s midfield and once again looking like
one of the best players in Europe. If only he had more than one
striker - and a wantaway striker at that - to aim for. Still, if he
and Deco click they’ll take some stopping"

Liverpool:
"The best striker in Europe was a revelation in his first season out
of Spain. Assuming (not an entirely foolish assumption) he avoids a
second-season dip and assuming Keane is a more lethal foil than Dirk
Kuyt and Peter Crouch (the jury has not even been selected on this
one), he’ll continue to punish all. And possibly sundry too "

United:
"Can Ronaldo repeat last season’s heroics? If not, they’ll need
Berbatov to hold off Chelsea"

Given that the subject at hand is this season, not last, no it doesn't.

One more from Guardian (full preview due Tuesday):

"1) Chelsea to win the League. It's their turn, they have the most
money, and they could still bring in a Brazilian or two before the end
of the month. All the other foreign owners appear to lose their
appetite for football or lose their grip on their wealth within the
first couple of years or so. Abramovich is different, probably unique.
Massively rich, massively hungry. A title in his first season might be
a big ask of Luiz Felipe Scolari, though having seen how far Avram
Grant took this squad last time out one has the feeling it practically
drives itself.

2) Manchester United to come second. Because Cristiano Ronaldo might
not be quite as good as he was last season and because United still
haven't found a way to bring the best out of Wayne Rooney. Though
should Fergie beef up his front line with Dimitar Berbatov, it could
change things. "

At always a lot will depend upon injuries. United and Chelsea are the
big two and I believe they'll both pull a little clear of the rest
this season, as far as who will win it? It's a toss up between the
two, whoever has the least injuries will triumph

It was the same last year. The best top XI were Arsenal, clearly, but
injuries to van Persie, Eduardo, etc. didn't help. Chequebook United
had bought a second XI, as usual, and injuries didn't much matter. Also
they didn't lose many (if any) players to the Africa Cup of Nations; in
that particular case, Alex Ferguson's racism against blacks paid off.

What a load of shite. Not buying African players seems like a wise move if
they're going to be out for at least 3 weeks (and more if they're injured)
in the middle of every other domestic season. Just because Ferguson factors
that into his transfers, doesn't make him a racist.
