.......the fat lady is warming up. Chelsea will give it a shot as they
always do, but their scoring form is poor and their game a bit flat
recently. Needing to play again at Everton on Thursday won't help, and
it does give them a bit of a dilemma. Do you continue to chase MU all
out, or bow to the seeming inevitable in the league and concentrate on
that CL semi against a side which now seems to have its 4th place sewn
up? That would seem to be the most sensible, but is it?

It would not be the greatest shock in football if MU also dropped points
at Blackburn next time. The side looked a bit up tight early against
Arsenal, and they do have that hard away leg against Barca to follow.
How will Fergie play it? The points in the bag and the extra 1(or 1000)
the GD is worth might tempt him to select accordingly at Blackburn?
The result of the Everton v Chelsea game will probably decide him.

So Chelsea should probably go all out to win at Everton and just hope.
They do play MU before their 2nd leg home game against Pool in the CL
so they will know how much real chance they have in the league by then.

Amazing how much influence a result like Chelsea's draw with Wigan can
have. The little bit of extra breathing space should help MU relax,
which is when they are at their best, and so improve Fergies CL winning
chances. It probably increases the chances of an all English CL final
of Man U v Chelsea too.

It's a fascinating old game.
