How does the Champions League work?

If you make the Champions League when are the games played? Is it a regular season or a tournament? Does your team still compete in it's regular league the next season?

it's a tourney. You still compete in your regular league season.

You play on tuesdays and wednesdays

It runs concurrently with European leagues.
UEFA has a great website. If you check out the CL pages on there you will find lots of info regarding the format of the CL.
