New stadium in Vancouver

Vancouver was the first other Canadian team to play in BMO field and they came in and beat the MLS's Toronto FC 1-0 and stave off elimination. Now Im sure that all of the people in this forum living in the Lower Mainland have heard about the plan to build a new football stadium near the waterfront in downtown Vancouver. There are people that think this is a useless idea because they think football is boring and no one wants to watch. And there are the football fans that want to watch football and see good teams match off against each other. If we had this stadium, the Whitecap's bid to get into the MLS might get through and we'd see the MLS teams in action in Vancouver. Plus supposedly Steve Nash( who is also Martin Nash's big bro)is working with the Whitecaps management to get into MLS and get a new stadium. In my opinion, I think that this stadium is a good plan, but will there enough supporters to get this plan through? Or will this plan end up being another high rise downtown. Give me some of your thoughts on this plan for a new stadium.

This new stadium should have happened years ago. It is typical BC/Vancouver anemic politics. Kerfoot was going to pay for the stadium, but we let the idiots at city throw in their own agenda and squach it. Look at Toronto, how much did the feds pay for that stadium? Damn it, we have a strorn football following here.

Also Lenarduzzi has to go. He may be a good man, but he is negative and will destroy any new MLS team we get like he buried Canadian soccer which we are finally crawling out of.

Agreed on both counts. There is talk of the renovated BC Place. That's nice for sure, but we need that new smaller outdoor stadium.

Seeing how the Whitecaps bid is still on the table, I think that they should really get a new stadium, not BC Place. Their bid is backed by Steve Nash, and could very well go through IF they determine that Vancouver is the right place for a MLS franchise and that our stadium in up to standard.

Have you people seen the proposal to renovate BC Place and make it a more football centred stadium? It looked pretty good but theyre gonna change the roof again and limit the seating to about 30,000. Do you think we should get a new stadium, or use this proposed version of BC Place? I personally think that we should get a new stadium, what do you think?
