Well, the rest of the world really calls Soccer as Football or Futbol. There is no other translation.
American Football is called just that. The rest of the world did not give it any other name. Simply because American Football is not really followed by any other country. It's an American sport. In fact, Most nations don't even know what is Superbowl...

Soccer is now the term used in most countries, although in Britain it is still referred to as football. American football is a type that is mostly only played in the United States. Australia has it's own style, called Australian Rules Football, and quite a few countries play Rugby union or Rugby league, which are two types of Rugby football. Ireland also has it's own Gaelic football.

In English...

Americans(US Soccer) and Australians(Socceroos) call it SOCCER (the game played with the feet).

The Europeans, South Americans, Asians, Africans, etc call it FOOTBALL (the game played with the feet).
However, nowadays, soccer is also a widely used termed in the rest of the world.

In other languages, they have their own accents to the word, but the root would still be Football.
--Italians (Futbol), Germans (Fussball), etc

American Football, is just a US sport, unknown in most parts of the rest of the world, but slowly trying to make its global mark. (Hence, the game in Wembley, London)

Here in the states it is called soccer and a few other places too. But 95% of the world calls it football, If an american goes to Europe, Central and South America, Africa, Asia (for the most part) and says soccer they look at you like you are on crack. It is just used here so my countrymen do not get confused.
