i chose messi as just from a sheer football point of view he is undisputedly the most precousise talent in the world, plays football like a magician, kaka is next as he couples brazilian flair with power and pace of the euorpe style, gerrard is 3rd over the other two as even though he isnt techniqally gifted or least doesnt try as many tricks, he is the best player to have to control a game and drive a team on, his sheer worth is how he can dominate a match and that gives him the edge over tricks and freekicks etc,
Ronaldo and ronaldinho same type of player, fancy footwork goals, freekicks and dribbling, however neither of them dribble or run with the ball change direction like messi, that why they are there and he is number one.

I chose Man utd as they are the dominent team in their domestic league and have reached the euro final, also they have one of the top 5 players in C.Ronaldo
Chelsea are so wealthy that they are able to purchase anyone and dont have an equal to their purchasing power they are also based in the capital city which is attractive to players and have a great squad full of real powerful big players who combine skill with sheer power and speed
Milan over last few yrs have dominated their own league and also have kaka and pirlo, they have been in 2 recent euro finals and with exception of this season always been top or 2nd in their own league, their owner is unbelievably rich and powerful, however they are on a downward spiral and the itailan league looks set to fall into futher disarrey
liverpool make the list due to their recent euro final and victories but if they dont push on in the league soon they will drop out of the top 5, plus they have the best supporters in the world and most famous stand in the kop, these statistics are from Fifa's own records. plus they have F.Torres and S.Gerrard 2 of the top ten players in the world at the moment, Gerrard is on my top 5 above.
Real madrid (or Barca) as they are the number one in their own domestic league, they have huge support over the world and until recently dominated everyones attention with their galactico's. again as ac milan their league is on the downward spiral and if this happens they will be out of the top 5,
