Why can't Americans like soccer (football for the rest of the world)?

USA hosted 94 world cup and even so, it didn't attract much audience. Don't you know soccer is the most lucrative sport in Latin America, Europe and some part of Asia?

So? Why do we have to like it? Everyone accuses America of trying to make everybody else conform to our culture, but all the soccer fans around the world want us to like soccer! If we ever did then we would probably be accused of Americanizing and ruining it!

It's a great sport, but I don't want to watch it, okay?

Why haven't you guys latched on to America football? I played soccer as a kid - it just can't demand the attention of US sports fans like America Football, Baseball and Basketball.

It will happen one day. Soccer is growing in double digits every year in popularity. By the time your children grow up soccer will truly be an American sport like the "other" football.

i wish it were more popular. we just have so many other sports that ppl pay attention to instead, like american football, basketball, and baseball.

becuase you soccer, you have to be paying attention every minute of the game. There is no stoppage or time outs (except half time) and American TV cannot handle 40 minutes without commercial all the time. WorldCUp was an exception, happens once in 4 years.
