Is it now possible that Iraq and US might play eachother in football?

After seeing Iraq beat South Korea and advance to the final, it is now possible that Iraq can be champions of Asia, and could meet the US in a match during the FIFA Confederations Cup, what do you people think about this, i am pretty excited to see how this could happen because it gives americans a chance to see that its not the Iraqi's people that we invaded, just the terrorist officals, and it could possibly show a significant phase during this conflict, If Cote de Ivorie can stop a civil war so the people can watch the world cup, i think this could be the possibilty of something to look foward to

Yes if Iraq beats Saudi Arabia then they will be in the Confederations Cup in 2009 against the US, Brazil, Italy, and others. I'm certainly rooting for Iraq to win the Asian Cup, if nothing more than to give the Iraqi people a reason to have some solidarity and some national heroes.

Honestly however, I dont think Iraq can be compared to Cote de Ivorie, I dont think most of the insurgents or jihadis care much about who wins in football. It saddens me to think that the suicide bombers are looking at these mass celebrations as a target. Plus, the victory would be over Saudi Arabia, where over half of the foreign fighters/ suicide bombers are coming from. Maybe that will exacerbate the sitation?? Very sad

Im pretty sure they'd look forward to beating the team to a pulp . You shouldve seen this fan who went crazy when iraq won against S.Korea, and he said" I cant wait for the Iraqi team to face the US in the Confederations cup, but it'll be a dream if the US reached the WORLD cup, which is impossible, with or without Adu" and I agree with him, and no, "Terrorist Officials" are something of Myth, just like Bin Laden, he used to be with the CIA, so the whole war on terrorism is staged out by the US, invade the middle east, and covertly get free oil, Saudi Arabia on the other hand, is too big for them to handle, the people are one, whether your sunni or Shia, you pray at the same mosque, side by side, and that is how allah wants us to pray, not a mosque for shias and mosques for sunnis.At heart we are truly united. It be interesting if they were to face off.....I think it would be more important for the Iraq people to beat the USA.

I was really disappointed with the news from Iraq about 50 people dying because of bombs going off during festivities after their big win over Korea.....

I mean.....thats just WRONG....Futbol is a chance for people to cool their differences and support their home country.....You bring an excellent example with Cote de Ivorie

Remember, sports and politics don't mix. Sure Iraq and USA can play, unless FIFA says no (which it won't)...
