why dont americans like football? football(soccer) is mainly popular with high school students nowadays, adults are more into "patriotic stports" like baseball and football (not soccer, the other football) so i dont htink they could afford plane tickets.

why dont americans like football? We don't like it because we aren't all that good at it and there isn't a lot of scoring during a game. We're not big hockey fans either. Also, when we see other countries trampling fans, literally killing each other over a "soccer" game, it kind of puts a damper on the excitement.

why dont americans like football? Don't make a blanket statement like that. As an American, I do enjoy watching soccer and playing as well. Both my daughters play and are competitive doing it. The thing here in the states is that we have so many choices and the sports most of us grew up on were Baseball, Basketball, and Football. All marketing/advertising is geared toward those sports. So, I would politely disagree that Americans don't like soccer. We just view it in a different perspective when it comes to the other sports we do follow. As for the blowhards saying "soccer sucks", grow up!

why dont americans like football? Soccer is great, but only at AAA or rep levels where it is really physical and crazy. I think alot of Americans like football (soccer) but not as much as football, or baseball. Those sports dominate and kids were raised in the US to like those sports because their fathers or mothers did. Its bigger with teens now tho. Public school to highschool.

why dont americans like football? We have American football which everyone goes crazy over (I don't understand why all they do is stand around half the time), but I think soccer/football is the most popular sport that kids here get involved with. Ever hear the term "soccer mom?" It's a kind of culture here where the mom takes the kids to soccer practice, so we may not be ones to have a huge soccer following for a professional soccer league (which we do have, if we hated soccer David Beckham wouldn't have moved over here to join an LA team), we still have them and people still go to them. I think soccer is slowly becoming more and more popular.
