AEK signs Rivaldo

Rivaldo has declined a multi-million dollar offer from the MLS (Goal) and joins AEK!



Rivaldo spoke to AEK's official web site.

What made you take the decision to join AEK?

"Other than the fact that AEK is a great club, a big part of my decision was that my family is happy living in Athens. When things turned up the wrong way with my previous club I took the decision to join AEK as they are a club with great aspirations and goals. I left a great club, Olympiakos, to join another great club named AEK."

AEK supporters are anxious to see you in an AEK jersey. What do you have to say to them?

"The only think I have to say to them is that they will see a Rivaldo full of will to win the championship for them. I will always give it my best on the pitch and they need not to worry about that."

Same country, same goals, different club. What has changed for you personally?

"The fact that I am in the same country going after the same goals helps a lot. The thing that I have to do is to get acclimated to my new club and my new teammates."

What are your goals with AEK?

"To win the Greek championship and advance to the Champions league group stage."

You mentioned that AEK is a club with great aspirations. They have already have signed Arruabarrena, Nsaliwa and Ramos. How do you see AEK doing in the new season?

"I am certain that the coach knows what players he signs and whoever signs with AEK it means that they are a good player."

Are you stressing that AEK will be part of the so called weak group in the Champions League drawing?

"Our goal is to advance to the group stage. It will not be easy but I could not say that I am stressing over it. We will do our best."
