Sorry John S but you are wrong. Alot of those trophies that you mentioned are not recognized. Here is the facts which say AC Milan have won 18 officially recognized international titles, more than any other club in the world. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ac_milan In European and World competitions AC Milan have won 18 officially recognised international titles, more than any other club in the world. [1] The club have won what is today known as the UEFA Champions League on seven occasions; only Real Madrid have won it more times (9). [2] As far as Italian competitions are concerned, AC Milan is the second most successful club with 17 league titles; only Juventus have won more (27). [3] AC Milan have won Intercontinental Cup/Club World Cup four times, more than any other team in the world. Other important titles which Milan have won includes the European Super Cup five times, the Cup Winners' Cup twice, however they have never reached the UEFA Cup final (only two semifinals). In Italy, the Coppa Italia five times as well as five Italian Super Cups. AC Milan is also one of the G-14’s founding members, a group that represents eighteen of the largest and most prestigious European football clubs. [4]

If you're talking about in Italy, no. Juventus has two stars (because of their 27 titles - minus the stripped ones of course). AC Milan has 17 (and Inter is close with 15...if they win this season, they'll be 1 short of AC Milan). In Europe, they are not the best team: Real Madrid is (with 9 wins out of 12 Finals). AC Milan are 2 short (7 wins out of 11 finals). If Liverpool win the Champions League this season (5 wins out of 7 finals) - highly likely, they will be one short. 7 wins out of 11 finals is a percentage of 63.64% Real Madrid and Liverpool have better percentages (75% and 71.43%). In the FIFA Club World Cup, no as well: They share the honours of winning it once with Corinthians, Sao Paulo and Internacional (all 1 apiece).

Brad G said it well. But, as much as I often like Real Madrid, the fact is the 1950's was a time when it was easier to win. When was the last time any team played a 3-2-5 formation???? Since the early 1960's when Argentine coach Helenio Herrera introduced the negative defensive tactics{ extreme Catenaccio} to Inter Milan scoring has become far more difficult than it ever was in the glory years of RM in the 1950's. These tactics have been largely adopted my most leagues to varying degrees which means logically that any team from any country that wins today has a harder time doing so.

As an impartial fan in this debate, I think that a club team to be called the best has to do well in both the international competition and domestic. Milan has good (but not the best) results in international club games but also not the best in Seria A. Juve have the best results in the Serie A even though its results in Champions League are not as spectacular. Real Madrid has both domestic and international results to support their claim to be the best of all time.
