| Absolutely, not. You cannot mix up politics and football, and think they're betraying their fatherland, just because they work in another country. They don't work FOR another country. Not in the sense of a soldier fighting for another army. They're only working there. Honour and national pride should not be mixed up with football.
The tension exists, but it should be solved through diplomatic means. And I, for one, as an Argentinian, do not hate the English as a whole!
Football is business. And footballers are professionals who are absolutely right to work for whoever pays them for their job. Football is an entirely unimportant thing, while war is possibly the most important one. And we Argentinians are doing as badly as we're doing, because we cannot tell the difference. |
