| MLS uniforms didn't have any ads on them until this season. For uniforms in other leagues around the world, advertising on the jerseys is common; in fact, that's a way to help bring in money and pay for their players.
If I'm correct, MLS had a rule of no advertising on jerseys. However, this year they agreed to it, especially since they also passed the rule of allowing a team to sign two players over the salary cap. In other words, the new advertising and contract rule is what allowed MLS to bring players like Beckham, Angel, Blanco, and Schelotto. |
