The reason the USA is able to defeat Mexico, and not Brazil, is due to home advantage. Whenever the USA is victorious over Mexico, it is on home soil. (The Gold Cup Final, for instance). Whenever Mexico is victorious over the USA, it is also on home soil. Additionally, the USA has one of the poorest away records in soccer history, and whenever they play outside the USA, they have a very difficult time winning. On the other hand, Mexico has a very respectable and formidable away record, and are able to defeat teams like Brazil and Argentina simply because they are able to hold their own outside their own country. |
