It might make sense to shuffle the groups a little bit. I think every WC has its huge dissapointments - don't forget about France in 02, didn't even score a goal - and darlings - Ivory Coast - so its a good thing to allow the Saudi Arabia's of the world to qualify.
Taking a slot from Asia might make sense - but Africa is also a candidate to pick it up, not just Europe.
I think the only reason Isreal doesn't play against arab teams is because the arab countries tend to blow people up, and then blame the zionists and 'great satan' for lighting the fuze. |
